Flu & COVID Vaccination - PUBLIC SUPPLY (BC Residents with MSP)

The fall COVID and flu vaccination campaign will begin on October 15th with the new Moderna Spikevax KP.2 vaccine. Pfizer's Comirnaty vaccine's availability date is to be determined. Appointment invitations will be sent by the province starting October 8th. We are unable to book an appointment for you over the phone as the appointment platform is managed by the province.

Minor Ailments

B.C. pharmacies can submit claims to PharmaCare for providing a Minor Ailments and Contraception Service (MACS) to eligible patients covered by the Provincial Medical Services Program and no payment for the service is required for eligible patients. MACS can only be provided by pharmacists who have completed the PPMAC Regulatory Education module, and for the minor ailments listed in Schedule A of Ministerial Order 114/2023 or for contraception.

MACS is provided through a private in-person visit during which the pharmacist conducts a comprehensive assessment and offers clinical advice and treatment for minor ailments and/or contraception needs. The pharmacist may prescribe medications, offer non-prescription medications, make non-pharmacological recommendations, and/or advise the patient to seek medical attention from a physician or other health care professional.

This policy standardizes how PharmaCare MACS is delivered across B.C. For details on standards, limits and conditions, and other information related to diagnosing or prescribing, refer to the College of Pharmacists of BC’s Pharmacist Prescribing for Minor Ailments and Contraception (PPMAC).
